[From Lis de Oliveira]
“I work at the School of Machines, Making & Make-Believe, an independent school in Berlin hovering at the intersections of art, technology, design & human connection. We are trying to be more responsive to the digital, social and political climate and design courses that we think are needed in the world.
I wanted to share with you one of upcoming programs called Waiting and Escaping program, as it might resonate with those of us exploring more unconventional design and curating experiences:
This course is fundamentally about designing immersive experiences. What considerations are there when designing for full immersion? When time is of the essence, where do we focus our attention to ensure that the show goes on? What kinds of talents and skills are necessary for such an undertaking? How to curate such an environment? Students will earn the finer points of escape room design and take on the ambitious task of designing one ourselves that will be open to the public as part of the final showcase of the program. This program is made up of brilliant guest speakers, each specialized in very niche and fantastical fields.”
